Son of a Cuban father and Catalan mother, he was very popular and loved by the fans, both for the color of his skin and for his juggling skills and friendliness. He was the first black player to play official matches for Barça, as Brazilians Jaguaré and Dos Santos had only played friendly matches. He was coach of various Catalan teams.
