Scorer of FC Barcelona's 3000th goal in the league. He inherited the name Quini from his father. Known as "El Brujo" and "Quinocho". While playing for the Club, he was kidnapped on 01/03/1981. He was freed by police on 25/03/1981 in Zaragoza. The Club paid tribute to him at the Camp Nou (09/10/84) and he was later given another by Sporting when he retired (21/08/87). Since then he has been connected to the Asturian club in various ways, working as a coach and as team delegate. His brother Jesús Castro was a legendary Sporting goalkeeper who died heroically by drowning in the sea after saving two children. A park in Gijón is named Hermanos Castro (Castro Brothers) and since 2015, he has had a street named after him.
