In the late 1960s, Inmaculada Cabecerán discovered that there were women's teams in England, Italy, and other countries.... And she thought it was necessary for her club to have its own. So, she arranged a meeting with the president Agustí Montal, who promised her that if he found enough women to form the team, he would give the go-ahead.
Days later, he placed an ad in the Revista Barcelonista with the headline "Women's soccer in sight". The number of calls was such that, according to her, "we had to insist on setting a minimum and maximum age to stop it."
On December 25, 1970, with the name Selecció Ciutat de Barcelona and a white jersey given that it was not an official section of the Club (it would not be until 2002), the women's team made its debut at Camp Nou against Centelles on the occasion of the Christmas Charity Festival organized by Radio Nacional. That day, Imma scored two goals in the penalty shootout to certify the azulgrana victory, although only the socks had this color combination.
Thanks to her determination... The rest is history.
