Johan Cruyff is, without a doubt, the man who changed the modern history of FC Barcelona. With the arrival of Cruyff in 1973 from Ajax Amsterdam, Barça won their first league after 13 years of drought. Cruyff was not only decisive as a footballer, but also as a coach. In 1988, and also from Ajax, the Dutchman took the bench at Can Barça. In his 8 years as coach Blaugrana won the first European Cup in the history of the club, also 4 consecutive leagues, club record. In addition, he built what for many is the best team in history: The Dream Team. Known as the "Skinny" or as "The Flying Dutchman", Cruyff was not only important in the playgrounds but also played an active role in Catalan society becoming national coach between 2009 and 2013. Cruyff is considered one of the 4 greats in the history of football, a dream space he shares with Di Stéfano, Pelé and Maradona. His legend has led to several films. He has also sponsored the charity Johan Cruyff Foundation and the academic Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies. His son Jordi Cruyff also played for FC Barcelona.
