Son of the composer Isaac Albéniz, he was the founder and first president of the Referees Committee and he was also a Real Madrid director. He started playing in England and was also an outstanding rugby player in France. He was the first player to play for both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid due to his studies. He was Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon's great-uncle and grandfather of Cecila Maria Ciganer, who was Nicolas Sarkozy's ex-wife.
